FAQ

A considered guide to matcha, preparation and the NOÉ ritual.

01 — WHAT IS MATCHA?

What exactly is matcha?
Matcha is finely milled green tea made from specially cultivated tea leaves. Unlike traditional steeped tea, the whole powdered leaf becomes part of the drink. NOÉ Matcha is sourced from Japan and selected for its smooth, balanced character and everyday drinkability.

02 — MATCHA VS. COFFEE

Is matcha better than coffee?
Not necessarily — it is simply a different ritual. Both coffee and matcha naturally contain caffeine. Matcha also contains L-theanine, an amino acid naturally found in tea. Research has explored the combination of caffeine and L-theanine in relation to attention and cognitive performance. Rather than replacing coffee by rule, matcha offers another way to approach your daily caffeine ritual.

03 — CAFFEINE

Does matcha contain caffeine?
Yes. Matcha naturally contains caffeine. The amount varies depending on the matcha, serving size and preparation. For this reason, we recommend treating matcha as an intentional daily ritual rather than simply another drink to consume throughout the day.

04 — EMPTY STOMACH

Can I drink matcha on an empty stomach?
Some people enjoy matcha before breakfast without any discomfort, while others prefer it after eating something small. There is no single rule. If you are sensitive to caffeine or tea on an empty stomach, begin with water and enjoy your matcha alongside or after breakfast.

05 — MORNING RITUAL

When is the best time to drink matcha?
There is no prescribed moment. At NOÉ, we like matcha as part of a considered morning ritual: begin with water, eat something if that feels right for you, then prepare your matcha without rushing. The ritual matters as much as the timing.

06 — PREPARATION

How do I prepare NOÉ Matcha?
Sift 1–2 g of matcha into a bowl. Add approximately 60–70 ml of hot water at 75–80°C and whisk briskly in a zig-zag motion until smooth and finely foamed. Enjoy traditionally with water or finish with warm milk for a matcha latte.

07 — MATCHA LATTE

Can I prepare NOÉ as a matcha latte?
Absolutely. Prepare the matcha concentrate first with water, then add your preferred warm milk. This preserves the smooth texture of the matcha and allows you to control the intensity of the drink.

08 — ORIGIN & QUALITY

Where is NOÉ Matcha sourced?
NOÉ Matcha is sourced from Japan. The Signature is a first-harvest, JAS Organic ceremonial matcha, stone-milled and selected for a smooth, balanced profile suited to both traditional preparation and matcha lattes.

09 — SHIPPING

Where does NOÉ ship?
NOÉ currently ships to Germany and selected European destinations. Available countries and shipping rates are shown automatically at checkout.
